Breaktime

Staying at home for almost the entire week has been pretty relaxing, ill admit it. Just staying indoors, doing nothing, eating snacks galore, watching TV, and finding other ways to pass the time. However, in the midst of finding said ways, it has also been somehow very boring. Having your door shut from morning to night, almost never taking a step outside your precious sanctuary can sound wonderful, but I think that after time, it can make you feel very dull. For example, the only time I step a single foot outside is when I have to go to work or grocery shopping. Other than that, I am just at home cleaning, reading books, playing games, or messaging my friends to see how they are doing amidst this crisis. Even writing this post today takes only a few hours of my day, and I still have 22 hours to go until the next day. You do not believe how many times I have wanted to go outside and just talk to people besides the ones at work, or mostly just hanging out with people downtown. Now, I can no longer do that.

This isolation might also be beneficial for us. Let me tell you why. In all of its simplicity, it is always nice to take a break. Most of us never get this opportunity, because we are constantly working day in and day out, with a set schedule dragging us along, all for making money so we can survive and continue to live where we are today. Plus, the only time you have to relax is after your work, where you only have like an hour to chill out before heading up to bed to begin yet another day, and when that new day arrives, then comes the repetition. A feeling of being stuck in a never-ending cycle and cant seem to just break out of even if only for a tiny bit. As time goes on, you slowly start to break down from the inside. You may not notice it, but time after time, everything wears down eventually. That's why I think this is a good way to recharge our human-like batteries. Sure we still have to work from home, but how often does that happen for you? Very rarely. How often can you say you work in comfort from your bed or from your comfy sofa while listening to the TV or playing music in the background? You can't do that at work, depending on the type of job you have.

I will say this. Take your time and relish in this beautiful week of nothing but rest and relaxation. Once we are all back to our usual rat races, we will forget how this week was and slowly start draining ourselves of anything we deem "fun" once again. That is why I encourage you all to remember this week not as a self-quarantine, but as a reset, because not only does this precious time give you a breather, but can also serve as a way to renew yourself and to cherish what matters most so that you can be even more ready for whats to come in the future. Let us all take a break.
